Yorkie Pin Mix

The Yorkie Pin is a popular hybrid, made by crossing two very popular dog breeds, the Yorkshire Terrier, and the Miniature Pinscher.

Before we talk about the Yorkie Pin Mix, let’s first talk about the characteristics of the two parent breeds so that we know what to expect of the resulting offspring.

Characteristics of the Miniature Pinscher

This dog is known as the “King of the Toys.”  It is a small, compact dog, who has a very fearless and lively temperament.  Its gait is very unique in that is has a high stepping gait.

The coat colors are black and rust, and the ears are often cropped and the tail docked.  This appearance makes him appear similar to his close relative, the Doberman Pinscher.

Possible coat colors of this breed are red, stag red, black, and chocolate with tan.

The name Pinscher means Terrier in German.  The breed did originate in Germany and was supposedly descended from the Dachshund, Italian Greyhound, and shorthaired German Pinscher.

These “Min Pins” make great family dogs, and get along well with children.

They belong to the AKC Toy Group and were first recognized by the AKC in 1925.  They stand about 10 to 12 inches tall.

Characteristics of the Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkie originally comes from Yorkshire England and is black and tan in color.  It weighs only 7 pounds and has straight hair, and is considered to be hypoallergenic.

They belong to the Toy Group and are the second most popular dog breed in America.

These dogs travel well and make great house pets. Their long coats require regular brushing.  The AKC first recognized them in 1885.
