The Yorkie Chihuahua mix is a popular hybrid or crossbreed, whatever the term you want to use is. This mix also goes by several names as well like the Yorkhua, the ChiYorkie, and the Yorkhuahua. But you can make up your own name as well from any mixture of the two original breeds.

Chihuahua – Characteristics It Brings To The Crossbreed

The Chihuahua is a very popular dog, and one of the smallest breeds of dogs that you can have. These dogs are very quick moving and often have a “bigger than they are” attitude. 

Another great characteristic about the Chihuahua is that they are very intelligent and very quick learners.  

The breed gets its name from the Mexican state of Chihuahua, and it is believed to have originated in central America. 

These dogs are great with children, but only if properly trained, otherwise they can get very snippy and bark a lot. 

This breed is in the AKC Toy Group and was first recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1904. 

Yorkshire Terrier – Characteristics It Brings To The Crossbreed 

The Yorkie originally comes from Yorkshire England and is black and tan in color. It weighs only 7 pounds and has straight hair, and is also considered to be hypoallergenic like the Bichon Frise.  

They belong to the Toy Group and are the second most popular dog breed in America.  

These dogs travel well and make great house pets. Their long coats require regular brushing. The AKC first recognized them in 1885.

Weight: These crossbreeds normally weigh less than 7 pounds. 

Height: 9 inches tall is the highest I have seen or heard about. 

Coat Color and Length: This can very because some Chihuahuas do have long hair. Also the color can vary as well, from yellow, tan, to black and brown. 

Temperament: The crossbreeds tend to be very smart and make great house dogs.
